19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
